More About Camp
Nestled in the edge of the Hoodoo Mountain range in Idaho, Camp Grizzly is located along the Palouse River, 12 miles East of Potlatch, ID. We enjoy warm and dry days during the summer season and cool nights. Daytime temperatures in late July average around 82°F and nights average at 54°F with temperatures dropping swiftly once the sun sets. Our small lake is perfectly sized for younger scouts to complete their boating merit badges and the water is pleasantly cool and refreshing! Every program area and campsite has shade shelters and trails between areas wind through our regrowing forest. Each campsite has canvas tents on platforms and an adirondak that sleeps 8 as well as a campfire ring, picnic tables and kybos. Program areas are spread across less than a half mile with the majority within just 1/4 mile, allowing scoutmasters ample opportunity to visit and observe all of their scouts in their classes during the week.

Additional Information
-
MARK YOUR GEAR - Scouts have been reminded numerous times that they need to mark ALL of their clothing and other gear with their names. This includes Class B, Class A, shorts, pants, underwear, socks, neckerchiefs, slides, and any other gear they would like to get back. Scouts will be doing their own laundry while at camp. If they don't have their names on their gear, getting it back will be a 50/50 proposition at best. We will do what we can, however, each year Scouts lose gear that is not marked. We will only do so much to assist in tracking down unmarked gear. Scouts are responsible to have their gear marked.
-
GEAR NEEDED - See attached packing list. At least 4 Class B shirts are highly recommended and Scouts will be doing their laundry while at camp (did we mention that?). Reminder that we are highly encouraging crazy socks and crazy hats for all week at camp. Any fun hat will work, however, Scouts still need their Troop Boonie hats for closing colors. Crazy socks and hats have been a tradition for our Troop at summer camp. They build camaraderie and esprit de corps and really help our Scouts set a tone for camp. If your Scout has any questions about the packing list, have them reach out to their Patrol Advisor.
-
TRANSPORTATION COSTS - We will work to keep the individual costs down as much as we can. The Troop normally pays for one or two of the three vans we rented from Enterprise Rentals. We will have a final amount for transportation costs as soon as we finalize the number of Scouts attending and paid for camp. The transportation costs cover the third rental van, hotel night, restaurant dinners, breakfast at the hotel, lunches made on the road, campsite rental and fuel costs for 4 vehicles. Please pay the Troop Venmo as soon as you are able, but before we leave for camp. If anyone has any problems paying this portion of the summer camp before we leave, please contact me asap so we can make arrangements. We do not want any Scouts to miss out on summer camp.
